Flashing is when there is an uneven appearance of the paint. The coating is uneven on the surface.
Possible Causes:
- The paint was applied unevenly on the surface.
- There were temperature fluctuations while the paint was drying.
- There might have been some kind of moisture on the paint while drying.
- Used paint that was gloss alkyd where direct sunlight hits.
Solutions:
- Bare areas should be primed before applying the paint.
- You can add another coat of paint on the shear areas.
- Thinning touch-up areas can help blind the paint more.
- Also, when applying exterior alkyd/oil-based paints, it may leave a chalk like finish. Try to rec oat the area and wash the painted area if it appears chalky.
